It's what made BTS millionaires. They obviously don't think it is overrated.

I use FB and IG to keep up with and in touch with my family and real life friends spread out now around the country. We can share images and conversation without having to travel around. And we can ALL join in the conversation no matter where we are at the time, unlike a telephone call which is limited to 2 or maybe 3 people. It keeps me up with the growth of my grandson without the expense and time off work of traveling to upstate NY, an 8 hour drive from here.

I use FB groups to follow information on the cars I own, as tech info moves off of forums (which are dying out) in favor of the instant communication of the groups. It's a great way to get information on how to fix things when someone else has had the same problem and solved it.

I also use FB as a business promotion tool for my side business (architectural visualization) as it's a great way to share images and video to a wide audience and easier to update than the business website.

So is it overrated? I don't think so, even though it's probably improperly used by many.

I'm on FB and Twitter and use them for their intended purpose: To connect with those who I otherwise would never meet. The people I'm cool with on Twitter, I know outside of social media, some I've just met but they seem cool otherwise.

^^This bolded spot on.

Social media is much worse than merely 'overrated'. It's George Orwell's nightmare that he tried to warn us about. We still don't get it.

The only time I ever did social media was AOL chat; back when the internet first got started. Never went beyond AOL chat.
