I didn't even have a TV for most of my adulthood so far, so that would be way easier for me to give up.

No internet for a year? - I would be in serious withdrawal.

TV is a vast wasteland. I can go without it for weeks. I do use the internet every day.

Linear TV is dying fast, so I guess most people under 50 (60?) will choose internet.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that unless someone is not of the modern upbringing (or lives life where they can "have accountants pay for it all"), they can't go without the Internet.

One way or another, we are all just too tied in. In the infamous words of V. H. Adderly, "We are all in this together. Some of us, a little bit more than others, but we are all in it together.".

So when it comes down to push comes to shove, TV would buy it before the Net.

Now, for all of us who might think we could still get it even without having the idiot box about, two things to keep in mind. First of all, TV is more of a one way device in that they give, we receive, but the Net is interactive in one place or another. Business, friends, news, spies, blogs, and whatever else.

Secondly, those on the other side, ie those who want us to be interactive and give them our money, would much rather see us lose TV than the Net.........though they have spent a lot of money in advertising (and now in smart TV) not to kiss the TV goodbye yet.

IMHO.
