I dont even know why I have a TV, its mostly a waste of time, endless reruns, dumb new shows and of course more commercials than I can count.I live for the internet especially youtube.I can spend hours on it watching all the documentaries and how to programs.
I've noticed that people with young children are simply not willing to tolerate the expense of cable television. The kids grow up with streaming services like Netflix, HBO Now and Amazon Prime and they don't even know about commercial television.
I looked at the stations on our cable television, and the obvious conclusion is that it is extremely difficult to replicate the sports offerings on basic cable.

Triple play costs $168 but they would cut it to $90 if just landline and 50 Mbps internet. So it is $78 for TV and boxes to watch TV.
Most of the tv I watch is through streaming sites, so I suppose I could technically give up tv and watch shows via the internet. That being said, I could easily give up the internet and most weeks only use it at work. I don't have a smartphone and I prefer it that way.
I haven’t had “tv” since I moved out of my parents house about 10 years ago. I do occasionally miss it, but then I look at the price and no thanks. Cheapest cable where I live is $55/mo and dish is $40/mo. I’ll stick with just internet and streaming. Internet plus Netflix is cheaper then either of those. Plus we work so much it just doesn’t make sense. We messed around with OTA, but we live in an area where signal is poor. Only about 6-8 decent quality channels and most of them suck.

Mostly Sports on TV - find the big screen is better for football, baseball, etc. But I'm like you - can watch YT vids for a lot of things - recently to do yoga w/ YT instructors.
