Been trying to come up with examples of highbrow and popular culture in various genres that one might consider to be “guilty pleasures.” You know, the kind of stuff you know isn’t really especially good but you consume anyway and enjoy. So far, I’ve come with some examples:

Movies: The Magnificent Seven, Ghostbusters
Visual art: Washington Crossing the Delaware
Poetry: Trees (Kilmer)
TV shows: Gilligan’s Island
Classical music: Bolero (Ravel), Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 (Enesco)

Any examples of classic novels? Pop music albums?

Original art from a gallery.
Some “art” from World Market or Home Goods.

I'm over 50 and studied communication and film in college. Yet I still enjoy to an unhealthy degree Japanese movies about giant rubber monsters destroying balsa wood models of Tokyo.

Godzilla and his ilk are definitely my pop culture guilty pleasure.
