I like both of these characters. But I would choose John Boy Walton over Luke Skywalker as a personal hero.
It is true that Luke fights for entire planets. John Boy on the other hand only affects those people in his family and personal environment, such as school or work. But I can relate more to the Waltons because it is real life. I can actually APPLY the things I learn watching the Waltons to my own life. I've just never had a true appreciation for fantasy and idealized worlds like Star Wars.
Can anyone else relate? Why would you choose one character over the other?
