Seinfeld (favorite sitcom of the decade)

the Outer Limits (reboot, my favorite '90s show of any genre) Great writing & cameo actors/stars.

Lets see, there was a lot of shows.

Well a couple of my favorites were/are:

Friends (94-04)

Why? Just answer this question.

"How You Doing?"

Dinosaurs (91-94)

Seinfeld & Fresh Prince, in no particular order.

I didn't really like Friends: it certainly had funny moments, but the comedy often took second place behind a lot of drama, relationships, and bullsh*t about feelings. The characters were also too ordinary with not enough quirks (perhaps with the exception of Joey & Phoebe). Similar problems with Everybody Loves Raymond.

Technically, the Sopranos aired it's first season in the 90s, so that would have to be #1.

If we're talking series that aired the majority of their episodes in the 90s then I'd say Star Trek: TNG or Law and Order for a series and the sitcom would the The Simpsons or Married With Children.

First place: "Northern Exposure" -- absolutely no doubt about that!

Below that, in no particular order:

"Christy"
"ER" -- through Season 8, anyway, until Anthony Edwards left the series
"Quantum Leap"

My husband would vote for "Star Trek Next Generation" (although this began in 1987, it ran until 1994) for "ER", btw.

As far as why, in every single case, it was because of interesting characters and involving and well-written storylines -- plus in the case of "Northern Exposure" and "Christy", we enjoyed the rural settings.

In fact, the five shows above (and sometimes, too, a "Wings/"Cheers" combo) were the ONLY shows my husband and I watched in the 90's.
