I like criminals being humanized.

Not romanticized for a demographic who are out of their depth.

Because they can't know in advance which movies/TV shows will bleed money and which will be mega-hits. No one knowingly produces a film or television show which they know will underperform.

Oh they continue to subsidize many films/shows that are bad investments to keep up a public image or appease the producers.

Hollywood is much more complicated than supply/demand.

Well you can show them all when your book, which is better than 50% of what's for sale at B&N, comes out.

50% of the books on B&N are repetitive filler so its not much of an accomplishment.

Nope, it's not. Money is the bottom line. It's quite literally all Hollywood cares about.

Why did the networks let Churck Lorre on even after his shows were tanking, going as far as giving him a raise?

Why did JJ Abrams get directorial rights over the Star Wars franchise after he lowered the long term profitability of the franchise?

Why do producers green light a plethora of minority positive content that does not bring in viewers but looks good in their company portfolio?

When an industry gets as connected and old as Hollywood its not just about a quick buck, its about networking, privilege, social payments, and most of all, politics.

People like the Obamas or the royal family are not given multi-million dollar contracts by Netflix regardless of proof of concept because of profit considerations.

Subsidies from internal branches of businesses is one of the driving tools for complex businesses, especially in Silicon Valley (more so than Hollywood).
