I get that this is probably a money grab by Spirits’ estate but saying Stairway to Heaven sounds like Taurus is pretty weak at best. The opening chords have some similarities but it is not at all a carbon copy. The rest of the songs are not even close to being the same.
I just listened to it, and damn right it sounds like the intro to Stairway to Hell. It's even in the same key, with the same tempo. I'm a musician and have worked in the rock music industry for decades, and there's no denying the similarity. I'm not saying that Zep stole it - because I have no idea and really don't care - but it's a stronger case than other music ripoff cases.
Zep has the money for the attorneys though, so of course they'll prevail no matter what. But I'll respect Spirit as the underdogs and the originals here. I'd rather hear their music than the overblown, overhyped, overplayed Zep crap.
Because Stairway to Heaven made a boatload of money. If you thought someone stole it from you, you'd sue also.
No, I wouldn't. I've got better things to do with my time than deal with lawyers and lawsuits.
