There are so many remarkable actors (both genders) and I think they were likely very intelligent too.
The entertainment world is full of drugs so it's easy to fall into that. But I've also noticed in my personal life that highly intelligent people get bored easily and often like to have altered experiences. I started noticing this back in the days of psychedelics (LSD, mushrooms, etc.) I think that's what people like Johnny Depp end up doing -- along with trying to numb out negative experiences (that's an issue for a different thread).

How many people are aware that Hugh Grant graduated (with honor) from Oxford. I don't think an actor can be a "top" actor without intelligence. You can often tell when they're interviewed, whether they're brighter than average, or not. The roles they get, might also be indicative of their ability to be convincing...that takes intelligence. One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to play a "fluffy" role.
Yes, it amazes me the number of people who think actors are hacks and bimbos. It's probably the whole hype with Hollywood, especially in this era. To me it's a combination of natural talent and intelligence that makes for a great actor. Actors don't like to work with low intelligence people. It's hard to keep up with talent and intelligence. I suspect that a lot of one trick ponies aren't very bright and may not have a natural knack either. Those people flame out pretty quickly.
Actors 1) say what screenwriters/playwrights write, 2) move when the director tells them to, 3) have their work clothes picked out for them, 4) someone else does their hair and make-up, 5) have an agent help them find work, 6) have a stunt man/woman stand in for them when the physical work is too hard for them and 7) someone brings their food to them (I assume they chew it themselves).
Still, I couldn't do their job. But, their work has no bearing on their intelligence or stupidity, just their talent.
Not necessarily, as far as their acting goes, although it must certainly take some talent to memorize lines, present them in a believable way, and follow all the instructions that must go into making a movie. But highly intelligent? not sure.
I think some individuals are super smart. Like Kevin Costner invented some type of water filtration system to separate oil from water. But he's the only one I know of who has done something like this. I'm sure there must be others.
Someone mentioned Johnny Depp - above - and I tend to think that people who are also musicians are intelligent. You kinda have to be to read music, play music, create songs, etc. I agree that during his trial, as 'weird' as he may have come across, if you listened to him, he was quite articulate.
Some actors are good in Bollywood and otherwise, all actors and actresses are SO dumb. like Varun Dhawan, ananya pandaye (Chipakli), ALl over Koopor khandan are so Dumb

NOPE! Like all professions, intelligence runs the full spectrum from low, average, to high. Sadly, it seems like it is always the lower IQ'd in a profession that run their mouth the most.
