yeah - the page in the newspaper with the comic strips. anyone ever read that, anymore? i actually dont, but i read one yesterday, and my reaction to the "humor" of these comics was to violently spit on the paper and throw it away.
the one that caused this involuntary reaction was this particular "Cathy" comic.http://images.chron.com/apps/comics/images/2010/4/22/Cathy.400.g.gif (broken link)
i guess handbag humor is a recurring theme in that strip.
I don't read Cathy, but I do read the comics, usually the first thing I read. I'm in my 60s and have cut out some of the "stale" ones but still get a great laugh many days from;
Pearls Before Swine
Scary Gary
Tundra
Non Sequiter
Rhymes With Orange
Doonesbury
Since the basic purpose of the internet is to share the knowledge and to communicate with each other, I can say that forums and blogs are playing one of the important role in sharing the knowledge and to communicate with each other.
Pearls Before Swine - Probably the only one I truly find funny out there. Love the bad puns he uses constantly. 9 Chickweed Lane - They got me hooked with the WWII storyline. Almost soap opera-ish but is centered around a spy story and has lots of sex jokes. Overboard - Very infrequently funny. Not really sure why I even read it. Rose is Rose - I read this to understand my enemy. I can't figure how people can be that sunny and cheeful. Zits - Another one that I am not sure why I bother to read. Frazz - I like the obscure references he makes. Dilbert - Occasionally funny Foxtrot - I like the nerdy jokes
