I know, it is hard to believe, but, I subscribe to Playboy for the articles.
Most issues I get, I do a cursory glance at the nude pictures, especially if they are celebrities. However, I spend a fair amount of time reading the articles.
I know several women that read their husbands Playboy's and Penthouse's, my gf included. She will tell you the same, the articles are really good.
Same reason I subscribe to Maxim

Honestly....yeah....
If all they were after was naked women there are a LOT more magazines out there that offer up a LOT more photographic content....that is also a LOT more risque. Playboy doesn't offer up much more than Maxim does in that respect.
The average Playboy has probably 10 pages of soft core nudity....out of what...120 pages? Of course half of what's left is ad space. But the other half consists of interviews, short fictional stories (most of which are completely unrelated to sex), political views, true stories, editorials, popular culture, hot products....theres a little bit of everything in there.

My wife usually reads the monthly issue before I do. She usually goes straight to the Playboy Advisor.

Funny...I asked my wife the same thing. She said no, but I thought to myself that it would secretly bother her. Until one day when I caught her reading the forum section!!!
As for the pics, yeah the women look sickly skinny sometimes, but I do enjoy the celebrity layouts.

I think when Playboy started, they put in the articles and such, so men could use that as an excuse for looking at a nudie mag. Today, there are definitely better sources for nudity than Playboy, but I think people that buy it today do so because the name Playboy is supposed to mean something.
I don't believe anyone gets Playboy for the articles, because they were never really good reading. I know, because I had some issues when I was younger, and I ended up reading some of that stuff in the bathroom. Here is what I found out.
- Their jokes and cartoons are not funny.
- The interviews are not interesting
- Their football and basketball picks are a complete joke.
- The new products they report on are useless eccentric items that cost a fortune, like a 24k ball point pen with a built in diamond encrusted tie clip.

Honestly, there's better magazines if I want nudity and better magazines if I want news/sports/politcs/etc. Why get Playboy, which does all of it half-a$$ed?

But we do...if we wanted a porn magazine, we'd certainly choose one with more than 10 pictures like a typical playboy has. There are more pictures of the interviewee than there are of the Centerfold most of the time. The magazine has 100+ pages and only about 10 have nudity on them. I have the internet for nude pictures (can search on Google and find millions), I get playboy because it's great on the toilet.
In my 10 years of being a subscriber, I've never once used Playboy to "take care of business"...the first time I ever saw "Velvet" (an actual porn mag) I DID take care of business...

Yeah. The articles, interviews, and jokes and satire are still top-notch. But the models are all very unnatural looking at times. They don't get carried away with the implants as much as they used to and are definitely a step above porn actresses, but they definitely don't come across as the girl-next-door anymore and I think that right up until the mid 80's they still had that appeal. The whole "bald" Brazilian wax look has gotten a little out of control in my opinion. Alot of women today feel compelled to have that look even if they don't really want it and feel that something as natural as body hair is somehow "nasty" and unclean.

I havent looked at penthouse & hustler in years. I do remember though hustler had a "beaver hunt" section & women from all walks of life sent in nude pics.
