Moving to Eugene in July/August and have a 2 year old. Work schedule will probably fluctuate as I'm in nursing profession and work schedule hours can be early and some weekends. Any experienced recommendations in south Eugene area?

I'm a SAHM so we don't have any personal experience with child care in Eugene, but I do know many working parents use Kid City through the City of Eugene Recreation services. During the summer our kids love the summer day camps that Kid City does.

Recreation Services (http://www.eugene-or.gov/portal/server.pt?open=512&objID=221&PageID=2097&cached=tr ue&mode=2&userID=2 - broken link)

There is also child care at the Science Factory I think. Our son has done summer camps there as well and absolutely loved them: Science Factory Children's Museum & Exploration Dome

Nearby Nature might be another option, but I haven't heard much about it. We have gone on several Nearby Nature hikes that were lots of fun: Welcome to Nearby Nature! — Nearby Nature Site

Eugene Summer Camps: Nature Camps for Kids in Eugene, Oregon Don't know much about whole earth nature school, but there was a flyer for it at my son elementary school recently.

I've also heard good things about the St. Thomas preschool on Coburg Rd. I just did a quick google and found their contact info:

Thank you for your response. We will follow up on your links. This is for my daughter and grandson actually. Moving back to Oregon after 3 1/2 years of Texas heat!

I'm a native Texan. We first relocated to Oregon about 8 years ago. It's wonderful here and we're really happy! I don't blame you for wanting to come back!

Just remember you are required to pay minimum wage if you hire a local (Non Child Care Center) sitter, and you must fill 1099's for them. Also Babysitters are required to report earnings. Failure to do so will get a substantial fine if you are caught.
