The main site has all that information, along with all the truly irrelevant massive amounts of trivia. It just takes patience and a deft hand with the CTRL F function to sift through all that.

The stats indicate that Eugene has about half the number of registered churchgoers than the US average.

But as I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of very spiritually inclined people in Eugene - it's just that they're not associated with any particular church, ashrama, temple, or mosque. It's more about DIY spirituality.

From city-data, just go to the pages for each city and compare the crime rates.

For 2009 (the latest available) the NYC crime index was 234.2. Eugene crime index was 395.8. US average, 319.2.

Is this Chairman Mao calling? Are you some kind of truth police? You have it wrong: freedom of religion includes the right to "indoctrinate" one's children into the religion of one's choice and not call it mythology. I emphatically defend the right of people of any religion to raise their children according to their own beliefs. All religions have their own truth.

But we digress...

Do you believe in emotional abuse of children?

I think telling children lies like "the earth was made in 7 days, and you will burn in hell if you don't believe this" is abuse. Period.

No one's the truth police, but there are such things as lies. Don't blame the person pointing them out.

I am more worried about Christians than they should be about me. If you are a nice person, I am all about being friendly and helpful and RESPECTFUL of your lifestyle. Some of my best friends are Christian

That's what I am finding, too. I know a few families where the mom follows one thing, the dad does his own thing, and the kids have joined a church. I find that really interesting. I think kids feel that the local area churches are really fun. They go out and have adventures together, play paintball, go duneboarding, lazer tag, etc. It'll be interesting to see if they stick with the churches once they've grown up.

We have a high rate of property crime, burglary, home invasion, methedrine production, heroin, and a large amount of drug dealing. Marijuana is practically legal here.

As far as ethics and morals go, we now have a large gay community, and the whole area is very politically democratic, extremely ultraliberal, socialist, and very anti-conservative and anti-family. This area has changed a lot, as we have all these people from Los Angeles and New York City here, it has become exactly like Los Angeles and New York City used to be.we also have an increased amount of pedophilia, burglary, sex trafficking, child kidnapping, child abuse, and some pretty bad stuff that I cannot even mention on this board. So I'm sorry nobody told you about Eugene Oregon, which is a community which is pretty much like very urban areas of Los Angeles and New York City. it also has some of the highest unemployment in the whole country, only second up from Michigan.

You would do much better somewhere else, and not in Oregon, as a whole state is very ultraliberal, socialist, and high taxation rate. In fact, Oregon has become so much less livable, (I am a native, born a Eugene) I heartily wish I could move out of Eugene, but I cannot sell my real estate here. The real estate market here is very bad, nobody can sell any of their homes or real estate, so if you know anybody who would give me a good price for mine, including the back of my place, which is completely unbuilt on, I'd really like to know. A lot of us would like to sell our homes, and move the hell out of here.
Move away. It is very simple. If you do not like the area anymore either make a 'positive' impact or move out of dodge.

We live in a dynamic and ever changing world. Nothing will and never has stayed the same.

These may be a bad words to you, but evolve and adapt to the world we live. That means, either stay and make a difference or leave for greener pastures.

Please leave your passive excuses at the door. If you truly want to leave, you will.

This is so true. Also, I never understood God fearing. I want to be God loving. Isn't that what true Christians do and love thy neighbor? Treat each other well. Fear sucks!

I totally agree, I used to live in conservative Fresno California. I never could get behind the "God fearing" attitude. Nor do I want to hear another sermon about how we are living in the "end times". That attitude promotes the idea that environmental conservation is a waste of time. Nope the end is not near.

I KWYM... anybody or any group that tries to use any sort of fear tactic to get me to drink the koolaid has me going in the opposite direction. It's why I have a hard time wrapping my head around most religions.
