Its been another summer here in CG- the bike paths are great, the food is awesome and the leaves are just starting to turn color... great day to live in Cottage Grove says this life-long registered democrat!!!
I don't think Brett ever claimed that it was a strictly "liberal" city.

But I would take a multi year full time residents (who actually lives there, and knows it intimately) word for it rather than.........

That would have been me. My father -in-law owned about twenty rentals in Cottage Grove which I managed for years. I was also a long time Cottage Grove Resident and I still go there several times a month to see friends who have lived there for generations. A two year newbie is not a long term resident. I know that city inside and out. Tell me Bret, when was the last time you went to a City Council meeting there? Just how liberal do you think those council persons are? What about the Mayor?

I provided data.. the plural of anecdote is not data.
Show some proof to back up your opinions.

Did the moratorium on medical marijuana facilities pass? no.
Did Romney win the Precincts? No
Facts... not supposition or belief but facts.

Steve, if you really do go to as many meetings and visit as many people as you claim you do, you would never be anywhere more than ten minutes.
I think from the amount of posting you do here you rarely leave your house!

I know from your past post history that "long term resident" to you means you may have stayed in a motel somewhere for a few days.
Btw, how long have you lived in Dallas, less than five years?
By your own criteria, we should discount any opinions that YOU may have on that town, unless you have lived there for decades...

My money is on Brett for the most realistic assessment of Cottage Grove.

Maybe someone else reading this thread that knows Cottage Grove can give us some different opinions and insight?

I would say the makeup of the City Council is a better yard stick of a cities leanings.

And I lived in Cottage Grove a total of six years.

It's a better yardstick of who is out there casting their votes.

Then the outcome of the last 3 elections? So your super conservative voters voted for Obama twice?

The math just doesnt add up.

Which of course explains why the vote was so close in 2004. . .

To the OP.

If you are looking for Conservative, choose Cottage Grove. If you are not, move on to a more liberal city.
