Two questions about Cougar Hot Springs for anybody willing to help--

1. I read on the web that I will need to buy a $5 day permit for the Willamette National Forest-- where do i get that permit? Will there be a ranger station as I drive into the WNF and if so does it only open at a certain time in the morning (I don't want to arrive too early and then have to sit in the car waiting)?

2. Are there certain days and hours that certain age groups (e.g. college students versus older adults) tend to frequent the hot springs, or when the hot springs are less crowded?

Already answered.

No. The old perverts mix with the young perverts, the new wave, the upscale, the Goth's, the rainbow family, the homeless, and the gawkers.
As for entry times it is hard to say as vandals keep stealing the signs. Leave nothing in the car period.

Wow. That is sad the trunk is not even safe! I guess we will haul ALL valuables with us into the hot springs. Thank you for the heads up alert!

I don't think you understand where you are hiking into. Leave the valuables in the rental home. If you are just going for the nudity, you may be disappointed. Not much to see and what there is will be mostly pretty disgusting and male. The perverts seem to like it though.
