We're traveling from Portland to Coquille and it looks like Eugene would be a good place to break for food. Any suggestion for lunch spots with easy access to the freeway?

Thanks. This will be my first time in Eugene and I'd like to try a local institution. I've eaten at enough Denny's.

Try Cafe Yumm, several locations... see maps, and menu. One of my favorite places in Eugene.

You asked about off the freeway. That limits your choices as the I-5 pretty well bypasses Eugene. The 126 Exit has several choices but like all freeway entrances you have already eaten there. Places like Sharie's, and the Original Pancake House.

Why not stop at the Brownsville exit instead of Eugene or Cottage Grove, That expands your choices from the usual freeway off ramp stuff.

Thanks for the rec gemstone1.

Got it Steve, thank you also -- I will explore Brownsville as an alternative. I wasn't stuck on Eugene, but not having done this trip before I wasn't familiar with other options, this helps.

Well Brownsville has some great choices, but it is a ways off the freeway. I was talking about the Brownsville Exit.

Cottage Grove is another good choice because there is a variety at the ramp with a couple a half mile away that are unique.

Not everyone is familiar with the distinction between Eugene and Springfield, both encompass the greater "Eugene Metro" area, but each city has it's own claim to fame...however parts of Eugene are easily accessible from I-5 as are parts of Springfield. I-5 pretty much bisects the two cities.

Well if you take Belt Line the first restaurants will be on Coburg road. Several there, but it is about four miles or more round trip to the freeway in traffic. Not what I would call close. Gateway has a selection, but they are all the typical freeway fare they want to avoid. Next is some of the ramps to Springfield (several miles to a restaurant of any kind and the Coburg and Franklin Road exits at Oakway and on the south end of town. All are miles from the freeway to the first good restaurants.
