Reason: orphaned answer
It took some getting used to for us - we're transplants from a get out yourself and pump it state - but we absolutely love not having to pump our own gas now. We especially love this set-up during bad weather. I'm a wimp in the cold, wet, rainy, winter months - I can sit snug and warm in my car with some hot tea and let them do their job. We have children, so we appreciate anything that means less ins-and-outs of the car and places during errand-running-amuck. Plus - I do think it's awesome all the jobs it creates. I think more states should do this. I am always amazed at how many people I see in other states who are filling up their tanks - while smoking a cigarette!! Dangerous!
Remember that scene from "The Birds" (Alfred Hitchcock)? Isn't it a drag (get it), just when the computer special effects are up to the job you can't show people smoking in movies.
I dunno really what that means, Leisesturm, I'm sorry! Maybe it was before my time or something... also I never really watched or watch much TV. I'm somewhat ignorant when it comes to pop culture... it's just so incredibly uninteresting to me.

Thanks for explaining and the links! I know the idea of someone bursting into flames isn't supposed to be funny, but somehow it was? Did MST3K ever do that film?
And that is interesting, too, about lit cigarettes mixed with gasoline actually not causing fires like the movies always show us. I knew that it's not the liquid gasoline that's the cause for concern, it's when the gasoline vaporizes and is in it's gaseous state... So the more I think about it, it does make sense that in a place like an outdoor gas station that there wouldn't be a high-enough concentration of gasoline vapors to do much if anything at all. I guess that's a comforting thought? Now if they could only make cigarettes not cause heart disease, cancer, periodontal diseases, not be addictive-forming, and make them not stink to high heaven! Oh - and get people to stop flicking their used ones all over the place. Gross! All they have to do is do all that and then I'll have no bones to pick with ciggies whatsoever.
I wonder if The Bird's is on Netflix? It looks like a good laugh!
