Default Visiting Eugene, looking for a close beach

I am going to visit Eugene next week, and would like to drive up to the coast and visit a beach. I've heard it's amazingly beautiful. Pictures on the internet confirm this.

What is the closest beach to Eugene? Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Whatever beach you visit, the first step is to drive over the coast range to get to the coast. You'll be taking Hwy. 126 (6th St. in Eugene) to Florence. From there, you can turn south and cross the mouth of the Siuslaw River and be at Honeyman State Park in a couple of miles. Alternatively, you could go north from Florence toward Yachats, which I would recommend. Cape Perpetua would be a good focus. Yachats itself is just a few miles further and makes a good have-lunch-and-turn-around point. On the way back you can take in additional coastal attractions such as the Heceta Head lighthouse if time allows.
