Different opinions or point of views shouldn't clash. Every individual is entitled to express their views regarding a topic. Some might not think racial type matters and go more towards cultural similarities, other won't. We are all different, I guess. If we look at cultural similarities, the English/Anglo-Saxon culture is of Germanic/Teutonic derivation thus will show much more similarities with European countries which are also Germanic/Teutonic. If we look at the origins of English literature, Anglo-Saxon law had their beginning with the Germanic-speaking invaders of Britain. The closest language to English is Frisian, both languages had a common ancestor, Dutch also is close to English. Thus the continental European country which would be closest to England would be the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium. If we look racially, autosomal Dna which presents a balanced view of Y-dna and mtdna points the continental European which come closest to England is the Netherlands. This is supported by the Erasmus Biomedical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This same departments was responsible for forensic research where according to them, it would be possible with genetic information of any European to pinpoint from which region of Europe they came from. That's precise enough, however in the future it will be even more accurate.

The Dutch are on average taller on average than any European country today including Scandinavians, but a little more than one hundred years ago they weren't. They were actually among the shortest in Northern Europe. Proper nutrition and good healthcare programs played an important in the height increase. They are not more slender than the English, they are slightly even bigger-boned. In Britain there is more obesity due to excessive nutrition containing protein similar to America. There's a difference between big-boned and just obesity. Do you watch any rugby? the descendants of the Dutch people are huge and will put fear into any body. I played football(American), rugby and did rowing as well throughout my high school and college years, I am 50% Dutch (ancestry from Gelderland), my height is 6'5 and my weight is 260 pounds.

You are probably making fun of British people, because the French have always lost against the English. Even colonies!

If to you, refering to google pics is making fun of British, it is...

Regarding wars, don't you remember about all of these or it has just being deleted of your British books?

Why do you think we ask for porc and not for pig in Buckingham Palace?

British failed so many times vs France
France and French people never make fun of British people, they absolutely don"t care...

To conclude, Britain is like many other European countries regarding wars, they defeat so many times but they only speak about their victories.

You seem to be obsessed with comparing France to the UK all the time. Are you insecure or something? Do you only feel good about your country if you can prove how much better it is than everywhere else?

You need to find a hobby.

LOL! Don't try and put yourself in someone else's shoes.
I am just setting the record straight.

PS: to tell the truth, most recently I was living in UK. I have been shocked how French bashing is so a national sport in UK whereas UK bashing does not exist in France.

thats why the atlantic looks of very black hair, pale skin and mixed to light eyes is so common among french and britons. the only difference is that tje french usually have more continental admixture (wether mediterranean or germanic). the english have more their own looks and usually dont overlap much with other europeans but the Irish.
Southern Germans this, southern Germans that, right? The Neolithic period did not only take place in Britain, but all over Europe. It's only that there is much more information about it on Britain, due to a greater influence of English-speaking in the world in various fields. All Europeans including southern Germans, even Austrians like Hitler are predominantly descended from the Palaeolithic ancestors, the hunter-gatherers, Southern Germans are not a "younger" population than that of the English/Irish.

The genetical map below illustrate well the average frequency of three genes responsible for light hair and eyes. France, southern Germany, Austria are definitely darker by any means than Britain/Ireland which are consistent with nations in Northern Europe.

The gene responsible for a very pale sun-sensitive skin, freckles, blue eyes combined with brown to even dark brown hair tagged by Icelandic scientists as the IRF4 which is common among Icelanders, reaches a maximum in Ireland(some call it "the Irish phenotype"). This has nothing to do with any mysterious "Atlantic theory' nonsense, rather as result of reduced pigmentation in people who haved lived for a very long time farther north from the equator in their skin, hair, eyes.Although this gene disarms the skin from UV light protection thus freckles easily, makes it vulnerable to skin cancers if exposed continously to sunlight. This very pale skin absorbs faster Vitamin D3, a nutrient vital for a healthy bone structure. This gene would be more common among Northern Europeans such as the Icelanders, British, Norwegians, Dutch, northern Russians than it would be among the French, Austrians, Spaniards, Romanians.

Austrian culture is distinctively of germanic core, not only its peoples but also theirnatural character. Britain's culture is atlantic ... a product of isolation of many centuries, not only they are easy to pick up from continental europeans based on looks.. but also based on their common habits, culture, popular trends , etc... british share as much in common in mentality with other europeans as the people in the states do. There is a huge change in culture wheb crossing the english channel, not only speaking about peoples appearance but the social dynamics and cultural background are heavily ridden in the anglospheric direction..

Liste des batailles de l'histoire de France - Wikipédia
The Battle of Hastings, was only won because King Harald went to fight further north, and the Normans attacked from the back as cowards do. If France had won over England, French would have been the main language in England and also the most spoken in the world. You know where Napoleon ended up after messing with the British. No country the size of Britain has ever built an empire as large as that of the British which became the world's largest. Nations which began as British colonies prospered much more than those run by the French. I'd keep quiet if I were you. English is by far the most widely used language in the world, as we go further into the 21st century, it will gain more preeminence. French will become history, in every nation on the earth, there are people who speak English somewhere. Culturally the French are nothing alike, the English are more industrious, this is why great nations came out from them such as my country, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, even in Africa it is the English-speaking one who do as a whole hold better than the French ones. This industrious character was inherited from their Germanic who left their homeland which were probably flooding at the time, they were a hardy people. While you the French are more passive, less industrious.
