Also regarding new EU members. If you think let say Slovak or Romanian can go and start working in Germany, well, he cannot due to restrictions.
Freedom of movement for workers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first link surprised me, I didn't know there are so many restrictions. Second link is obvious, but it's only for the next couple of months for 2004s and couple of years for 2007s. Also, if French government could legally kick the Roma out, they wouldn't be paying them. Paying them is the most retarded solution. I think that France should prepare for Romania to do the same and pay all their gypsies to go back to France. Maybe that's what it takes for them to learn.

I guess they just want to take a free plane ride to visit family in Romania and then fly back to France all for money of French taxpayers. Nice going, France...
I live in a EU member state other than the one where I was born and I also had to apply for permanent residency (or leave). To do so I needed to prove I had a job or enough money in my bank account (12 times the average salary if I remember correctly). When my current permit expires I have to apply again, or apply for citizenship right away (which usually requires having lived in the country for 6 years in a row).

And if you didn't apply they would give you 3000€?

Certainly not. I, too, was wondering why they pay them if they are illegal anyway (Post #5).
Maybe the French are stupid enough to think that they will stay in Romania, Bulgaria etc. in exchange for the money.
A one-way flight from Paris to Budapest on Air France starts at 650 Euros. I wonder who paid that.

You need to check up on Romania. The infrastructure is still held together with chewing gum and rubber bands in many respects.

This is amazing by France.. It kinda sucks for gypsys though, though - isn't their concept that they don't want to make money legally? Just by stealing and begging?

Lazyness and criminal behaviour should be punished. Why keep people in the country if they're acting like total ******* and the country doesn't benefit from them? No matter how political correct some people insist to be, we as humans, need this world to move forward.. And if we can achieve this by throwing out people who deliberately try to hold the country back, then they should do it!

I mean, they're even paying them.. And here I was thinking French people were mean almost to the point of heartlessness. That's freakin class behaviour right there go France!

You need to check up on Gypsy issue. You might be surprised that paying a gypsy to leave can be hundred times cheaper than paying them to live. They would save money.

Well, they're French so sadly its not much that can be done about them.. But if a French person goes to Romania and doesn't respect their country I'd be happy to see him being thrown out of Romania and back to France everyone is equal.
