Krakow for sure, forget industrial Warsaw. Consider Auschwitz-Birkenau while you're in the area. You'll never be the same after a visit there, but get your partying done first.
I agree Krakow is worth a couple days and yeah, Auschwitz is heavy but worth it. I've been to Krakow 3 or 4 times, there's a small but very thriving little underground scene there. Some fantastic musicians from all around the world live there now.
Wroclaw is quite nice and worth a stop if you're coming from the West. Beautiful historic city center.
Also agree - skip Warsaw. The city center is nice but it's a bit like being in disneyland or vegas as the whole place was rebuilt based on historical paintings after that big a-hole Hitler destroyed the city. And the post-war architecture in Warsaw is the most textbook example of Stalin Brutalism.
I really like the Polish people and think highly the country. I go with my girlfriend to her parents in a very small village near Breslau/Wroclaw 2 or 3 times a year and I love the city and staying at her parents old farmhouse and spending time with her large family is always fun. Great food, plenty to drink... .
I was in Sopot last year for a sailing championships and Sopot was beautiful. A freind and I biked to G´Dansk which was interesting and I wish I would have had more time there, I was lucky that the practice race was canclled otherwise I would not have had a chance to see G´dansk at all.
I would like to visit the Masurian Lake District soon.
Since this thread was bumped by a now deleted spam post, I just felt I had to add something and I saw this video recently, I think those interested in visiting Poland will appreciate it.
Yac.
