I have been to every location mentioned. I can also attest that all but two are some of the most wretched hives of scum and villany.

Been to Portree. I recall a very nice little restaurant right on the port. They kept the oysters in a basket in the sea and if you ordered them you could see the chef pulling up the basket.

Both Callander and North Berwick have good golf courses. Callander, of course, is the entry to the Trossachs and the setting for Dr. Finlay's Casebook.

Dunkeld has an abbey and Peebles has a hydro. Tobermory has a sunken Spanish galleon and - allegedly - there is also sunken treasure. It also has a very nice single malt. I have been through Pitlochry several times but must have blinked.

Never been to Ullapool or Crail. But I have been to both Inverary and Inverurie

Just said them cities and towns off the top of my head. People could and are mentioning any place they have heard of.

Maybe I'm missing something, but could somebody clarify exactly what the thread is getting at ?

I'm a Scotsman, also a driver for a living, there aren't many places in Scotland I haven't at least passed through.

What it is getting at is what it says on the tin, I was curious about what towns non-Scots have heard of, no biggie intellectual debate here, just a simple thread to talk about peoples thoughts, memories or knowledge of places in Scotland!

OK, that's what I figured, just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing out on a bigger point.
