but I'm not sure if there is a specific name for the style of buildings used in Paris like there is in most other cities. I probably should have known they're not Georgian (seeing as Georgian is restricted to the Anglosphere and the time they were built), there's plenty of Georgian architecture in
It's called Haussmann style and those buildings were built about the same time the Georgian buildings were built in London - maybe a little later, circa 1850.
Does someone have visited the vicinity of Paris?
I live at about 8 miles from the Capital, near the Marne River (on the Est) it's quiet and beautiful, on the Sunday I shop in an astonishing outdoor market and run along the river.
The sole problem is to take the RER to get there (or a Taxi)
There's a lot of places like this around Paris, with no tourist to enjoy it unfortunately. On the Week End it's a solution to meet French people away from the stress of the Big City.
She probably rented a very cheap hostel or pension that she found in Internet and ended at a very seedy place. The same thing happens in Barcelona, some tourists rent in places I would not sleep with three bottles of wine on me.

It's called Haussmann style and those buildings were built about the same time the Georgian buildings were built in London - maybe a little later, circa 1850.
Haussmann style : 1860's - 1910's (It is wider period than the proper renovation work of Haussmann).
Between the two wars (1920's-1930's) it is Art Deco buildings, those are still inspirated by the Hausmann style.
I do think that Paris is a bit overrated, there is much more to France than that. I never understood what the big deal about the Eiffel tower was, I think it's quite an ugly piece of architecture.
I agree completely. I went to the Eiffel Tower as well. It was cool overlooking the land, but seriously, I don't get what all the fuss is about. Too many tourists and the structure itself is loaded with graffiti. Maybe it was good decades ago when tourists weren't stupid to vandalize it.

I don't remember the exact town but I remember staying in Paris for a couple nights. The town I was in was quiet and not too far from all the major tourist destinations. The cafes and museums were alright, but a lot of what I thought Paris was didn't exist.
I have been to France and the my first expression was "wow". I was very impressed by the scenery and nature that France has! I never expected France to have such a pretty wildlife and nature. France stunned me. I like France and I want to go back there sometime definitely!
