Hi everyone!

I just landed in Heilbronn, Germany yesterday with my husband. We are in look out for houses here for renting. Any idea how to search for houses? we found few sites in the internet, but they are thru an agent, and its very expensive.
And also, are there schools or institutes to learn German in Heilbronn?

thanks in advance for ur answers!

Try bookoo.com for the area; craigslist or the local papers might also be sources.

Wow, you should have taken care of those things before moving there

Try immoscout24.de, check the Provisionsfrei box on the lefthand side, that kind of excludes agents. But beware that such offers sometimes come with a catch, thus they spare the potential renter the fees so they finally find someone willing to rent the place.
There are 20 offers today:
Mietwohnungen Heilbronn: Wohnung mieten in Heilbronn bei Immobilien Scout24

But agents are very common in Germany, and usually the renter has to pay the fee, which oftentimes is 2 x the rent plus VAT, i.e. all in all 2.38 x the monthly rent
If you do make use of an agent, make sure they are accredited, usually RDM is the symbol to look out for.

Like most German newspapers the Heilbronner Stimme daily newspaper has an online real estate site, which you might try:
Immobilien in Heilbronn Haus Wohnung Mieten Kaufen / Immostimme

Here you can learn German, it is Heilbronn's VHS (a kind of institution dedicated to educating the masses, not academically, but in languages, art, computer stuff, etc.):

I assume, your husband has a job there ?
If *yes*, has he spoken to his co-workers* ?

You do not mention *kids* so that would be a *plus* in finding housing.
If you have pets, it often is easier to find housing than if you have kids.
Been there done that ...

Try outside the city, and look for *Ferien Wohnung*.
We did that, and had the best time in our life.
We asked what their *income* was over a year from *vacationers*.
then we offered that to them *plus* something in order to make it *appetising* !
Right now --- , it should be easy to find a place on some farm, with very few people *on vacation*.

Since I do not how good the German language capability is of your husband, see if any of his female co-workers can go with you to check out this possibility.
