The confederate flag is sometimes used by German nationalists and racists, but it's not very common. I have seen it in a few allotment gardens.

That dosen't make any sense at all. Many of them probably don't even like Americans.

I camp almost every weekend and I've never seen one.

And you got that from what? Where did I say anything of any sort?
Apparently you enjoy making stuff up, ah, such faux outrage.

Maybe it is a regional thing. I grew up in one of the most nationalist cities in all of Germany, a (German) "Republican" stronghold. We had allotment gardens right behind our property along the rail line, thus I remember those flags. I have never visited allotment gardens or camping grounds elsewhere, maybe it is different in Hanover or Cologne.

Hm, regarding censorship, I don't know. In neighboring Denmark for instance Nazi stuff is not forbidden, and they have a huge Neo-Nazi scene there. In fact many Neo-Nazis from Germany smuggle their Nazi material in from Denmark. So I am not so sure the rather mild censorship in Germany is wrong. If anything it is not effective as there are many ways around it.

Nor can you say anything you want in the US. I don't know any country where people can say and do everything and anything without suffering consequences.

Could be.
I travel through Bavaria, Southern and Eastern Germany, Wiemar, Sachischer Schweis, Dresden, Berlin, etc.
Seriously, I've never noticed anything like that in a campground. I can't believe it would only be in the northwest.

I'll look around Hamburg next weekend on my way to Scandinavia.
