I pick London any day!

I never really thought of it the way you stated in regards to Paris becoming "incredibly bourgeois and lost most of its former bohemian spark." Yet I believe you have summed it up perfectly.

To put it bluntly, it takes one year to fall out of love with Paris, and it takes two years to fall in love with London.

I have to say I didn't really like Paris when I went there, the Parisians seemed very rude to me - Londoners on the other hand I've always found to be very friendly (in a comfortable, English-kind-of-friendly way). Architecture was amazing there, but I'm often impressed by the buildings in London, both old and new. London also seemed much more fun and exciting; but I've spent far more time in London than Paris so my comment can't be said to be my full and measured opinion.

I would love to visit both but out of researching both cities I'd choose London to live and Paris to visit. First, the language barrier, and I love reading and watching TV shows/documentaries on the UK's historical backgrounds. From what I hear, London is more fast paced and vibrant than Paris, so that is a plus for me too. I would like to visit Paris but I dont speak French, which could possibly make my experience there a pain

Love Paris, don't give a crap about London. I find Paris very interesting to explore but feel like London is rather lame in comparison. Can't really put my finger on what exactly causes me to think so - it's just a feeling I get when I visit either. Can't wait to get out of London, but wouldn't mind living in Paris.

My first trip to Europe was to London. Loved every minute of it. Several months later I took my wife to Paris. I HATED it. It was terrible. From start to finish. I spent a total of 9 days in Paris, with day trips all over, including EuroDisney, 6 months after it opened. I still hated Paris. My wife loved it.
2 yrs later, we went to Europe for 38 days. Had no plans to see Paris. We were in London and semi bored and decided to go to Paris for just one day. See the Eiffel Tour again, etc. I fell in love with Paris then and have loved it ever since.
I love London as, "The man who is tired of London is tired of life." However, I'd go to Paris anyday, over London. I can't say exactly why, except Paris gives me a "zest" for life.

My daughter was studying in Sheffield and I visited her for one week. In that time and given her most excellent companionship I was completely taken with London. The free museums small and large, the bookstores, the civility of the people and History and knowing that this was where courageous men and women took the stand against the Nazi's. Deeply moved I was and embraced each moment. She says it helped that it was atypically sunny the whole week in February.
