the most ideal place is somewhere like city of london is in west london.. we live in east london but further out in a place called essex.. its laid back and kind of chill, safe, quiet.. so comparing to stockholm where would be a similar place, hagerston? is hagerston a rich state? essex is rich quiet county. whats the equivalent of essex in sweden? sorry so many questions but as u live in stockholm your answers are highly valued
Södermalm is the old working class part of Stockholm, which is now invaded by the children of the 68-movement who wants to live an artistic and bohemic lifestyle.
There is also the eastern part called SoFo which is full of hipsters and trendy people who wants to live a New York lifestyle in Sweden. Because of that it has become a rather expensive area.
I would rather recommend the Söderort area which are the suburbs just south of Södermalm.
I think most parts are safe and actually very quiet, especially in the areas with single homes, and no apartments.
The single homes were built ca 1910-1950 and the apartment buildings 1950-1970.

Why does Gothenburg not get more international attention for itself with people outside Sweden?

It was such a surprise for me to find out about Gothenburg, especially for the population size it has.

Gothenburg has 520,000 people and is the 5th largest city in all of Scandinavia, and the 2nd largest in Sweden.

Stockholm is not that much bigger with 860,00 people. Malmo has around 300,000 people, so less than Gothenburg.

I assume Gothenburg has a lot of what Stockholm has for culture and entertainment options, and is much closer to Stockholm’s level than Malmo and other Swedish cities/towns.

Maybe it has a lower cost of living, and even more easygoing than Stockholm.
