The English language, culture, laws were brought to Britain by Germanic-speaking from Denmark and Northern Germany and northern Netherlands. These people made their strongest genetic impact in the populations of eastern, southern and northern England and as we move west, the Celtic and Romano-Celtic element gets stronger especially in the southwest. However the English as a whole are pretty much Germanic, since Central English are very similar to the people of Friesland(northern Netherlands), this is backed up by studies. Another study in 2011 finds that 50% of the Y-DNA sequences in the male Briton population to be similar to those of males in Denmark and northern Germany. Quite a few English people look quite Nordic actually. Not all Germanic people are Nordic-looking, since Germanic doesn't equal Nordic. Stop confusing things. English is obviously as a whole lighter than France, since the U.K. in pigmentation studies has been found to be lighter than France and Belgium altogether. These studies were published in French as late as 2005.
These British athletes of English ancestry are quite similar to other Germanic people. This doesn't mean that all English are blonde and blue-eyed, yes we all know the majority have brown hair, neither are all other Germanic people of continental Europe blonde! You just exaggerated because of your ignorance. The average hair color in the Netherlands is also brown hair by the way, maybe you didn't know that.
