Do you mean much higher Native populations? Or Chinese populations? Fusion can't occur unless the local (pre-European) cultures are strong enough to withstand being engulfed by conquerors and settlers.

Legally, we had to part with territories that became on China's side, after rivers changed their courses.

Giving away territory just because someone wants it, is impossible - constitution prohibits this.

What I mean by colony is that Asians believe Russia is just there to extract the resources there and not develop the land. And by Asian I am not just referring to the Chinese but also the Japanese and Koreans. A lot of Asians are frustrated by the lack of real development there since they aren't able to trade to the fullest extent with Russia. Since the Russian Far East's population is declining rapidly, I don't think you can discount the view that Russia generally hasn't really developed that region. Asians also want Russia to further develop the railways so that they can cut down on the transport costs in trading with Europe. This is generally the main reason why Russia is considered irrelevant in Far Eastern affairs. Oh and BTW it isn't just Asians who think this way but also a lot of Russians who live in that region.

Russia is so generous that they gave back Kaliningrad to Germany and Karelia to Finland. There is a reason why Russia is the largest country in the world and it isn't due to its generosity.

Russia has only begun to develop the region. New hydroelectric development happened about a decade ago, new roads, new bridges. It's a start. But there was a crash in oil prices when Medvedev became President, so a lot of plans were put on hold, unfortunately.

Eastern Prussia is not Germany's to take back. If Russia ever let go of Eastern Prussia, it should be returned to (Baltic) Prussian descendants, so that the third (ethnically/linguistically) Baltic Republic could be revived.

Neither. Russia and Turkey are kind of in between both for geographical and cultural reasons.

Ruth.. let me ask question in a different way;
In the US there are African-Americans, there are Hispanics, there are Asians.
All of them are "Americans."
Now who were the "founding fathers" of the US and what's the American culture predominantly?
