No benefit - the people and citizens would benefit.

And gosh, no. Don't give it to Lithuania. I really think it should gain independence. Economically it's just far outperforming its neighbors. It's not a big deal if its culturally similar to Russia - many countries culturally similar to another gained independence. Iceland from Denmark. Cuba from Spain. Why? For the benefit of the people.

Russia is progressing slowly and Kaliningrad is progressing fastly - the people of Kaliningrad shouldn't feel the penalties of Russia's poor government. Nor the lack of EU activity. Russia has more than enough land. I used to think that Russia was a good country, while its certainly not bad, they need to pay more mind to human rights.

You should look into individual statistics for Russia's Moscow or Saint Petersburg, than Kaliningrad.

You really think Russia would have to allow such to happen?
If enough of a push was organized in the appropriate manner, then something could and would be done.

Edit - It's obvious they would be opposed to it. Russia wants all the land.

The only foreseeable benefit is the less hassle for Russia.

There has been a whole mess of trouble over the centuries in Eastern Europe - massacres, countermassacres, and expulsions - all over who had the right to live on which piece of land. We don't need any more!

Kaliningrad economic statistics

Tatarstan, Kaliningrad Ranked Most Business-Friendly | Business | The Moscow Times

One informative site and one news article.

I can provide more. It's not as easy as looking for proof of Estonia doing well (run a google news search on Estonia - it's quite inspiring at how well it is there.) but it's certainly there and not difficult to find.

The world already has enough independent nations that cannot sustain themselves and do nothing but cause wars, and gobble up endless amounts of aid.

Notice how the world was a much more peaceful place before 1914?

Regardless of all the comparative data, you still haven't provided a reason why some Russians would want to secede from Russia.. unless your point is that Northern Italy should also secede?

Not sure if serious... or just a troll.

As Billy Bragg wrote, "All they taught you at school was how to be a good worker. The system has failed you, don't fail yourself." Time to beef up on them history books!
