And then from Trier to Luxembourg along the Mosel. After that drive up to Vianden and Clervaux to visit some castles and cross the border to the Ardennes in Belgium.
Isn't Lux city just delightful! It looks just like a fairy tale.
Some of the main roads were closed for a few months for construction and I got to drive through Lux City at dusk many, many times.

Don´t forget the Vulkan Eifel before the Mosel! Great scenery the one of a kind Maare volcanic lakes and some fantastic roads to put a few scrapes in the knee patches of your leathers.

I've seen the signs but never stopped.
I suppose I should!
Many people already posted great and comprehensive suggenstions.
As an Italian living in the North, I just suggest a route which is a hidden gem and a bikers' favourite. I'm talking about the Strada Statale 45 bis (State Road 45 bis) running from Salo' to Riva del Garda along the north-western side of Garda Lake. It is a very scenic and funny-to-ride road: http://goo.gl/21RlMP
DISCLAIMER Italy is choke-full of beautiful and interesting things to see and scenic roads to drive, this is just an off-the-beaten path kind of ride which IMHO is very exciting.
