Eurovision is a fossil of bygone days. Most people consider Eurovision kitsch and corny.

I was thinking about this more, while out yesterday and was observing stuff. Don't you guys think that the patriotism in Europe is more of a silent thing? We're mostly satisfied with our countries themselves, so do we have some respect and patriotism we keep to ourselves?

Also, Sweden isn't Western Europe. It's more Northern Europe or even Central Europe (at best.) I believe the North European countries are the most openly patriotic.

As someone who has only visited the Nordic countries, I can't really say much about patriotism other than what I saw. I can say Italy is not patriotic of our country, maybe of our ethnicity. I'm patriotic for my country (Italy) however...

1. Spain

2. Italy

3. A lot of Eastern European countries

people there are so proud of their ethnic appearance and overall country identity, in my experience people from those countries have giant amounts of respect for themselves

Not in Western Europe. Since all those new countries came up, everybody knowns they are going to gang together to vote one of their own, so the winner is always a country beyond the Danube, a Caucasic country, etc. I think that the only people that vote for Spain are Italians, sometimes France, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Greece and sporadically some other Western European country, but new countries (Baltics + Slavic * Caucasics, etc, etc. are the sheer majority.

Euroscepticism was not invented by the isles, but also flourishes on the "paene insulas" as Iberia, Helades, Italy, etc.
