Have any nonrussians tried living in an abandoned village. I live in the Alaskan Interior which looks a lot like an abandoned Russian village.

I know of hippies in Italy who have turned abandoned villages into successful communes. But then it's easier to grow things down here.

During a visit to Chuvashia in 2006 I saw some abandoned villages and asked about living there. I was told that if you are willing to pay taxes on the property it is yours. There is so much free land in Russia it is amazing.

I was hoping to hear from someone in a Russian village. We have so much in common, I have wolves and bears at my door step, they have wolves and bears at their door step. Russians live with -40 degrees celsius , I live with -40.

Not with all that permafrost melting, and all the methane gas that will be released, making the environment unliveable...

OP, is your question about abandoned villages, or are you looking for a penpal in an active village? There's no food delivery, health or other services in abandoned villages. Anyone wanting to live there would be very much on their own. If you want to correspond with someone living in an environment similar to yours, it could probably be arranged, but it would help if you could write/understand Russian.

Hello, my name is Sergey. Now I live in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia. I used to live in the village. Why are you interested in Russian villages abandoned?
