Do any of them have songs that could be hits in America?

Do they sing better than these guys?

What's a "continental European rock group," and what constitutes a "hit" these days? I mean, 1966 is a long time ago.

Anyway, Dimmu Borgir are set to tour the US in 2013, check them out! They sing in English and everything.

I meant singers or bands from the European continent where English is not an official language.

There was one in Spain, but they are not famous abroad, and since 5 or 6 years ago they make electro pop.

Lots, especially the Scandinavian metal band such as Soilwork, In Flames and Korpiklaani. Thankfully metal isn't dead in the Nordic countries, it's very much alive.

The Scorpions. This one is pretty cool. Rock with a symphonic orchestra:

This band here is called Guano Apes. I thought they were pretty cool at the time

ABBA, The Cardigans, the Scorpions, a lot of those euro-trash-pop groups, Vengaboys, Aqua, Air.

Yes, Abba immediately comes to mind. Also Alphaville.
