OK, Finland is as west European as Turkey. Let's remember that.
No. Turkey, US, Canada, Australia, NZ and Israel are in the "others" group. Of course due to geopolitical reasons. Finland would be in the Western European group with or without Turkey. And Turkey is fundamentally an Asian country.

I don't see what your problem is, as you fail over and over again to give any reasons other than geographic why Finland wouldn't be Western European. The truth is that culturally, historically, politically, econonomically mentally and socially Finland is a Western European country, and your ignorance doesn't change that.

Finland and the rest of Scandinavia are in the "others" group.

(Western World is what you are referring to. Not Western Europe)

how do you know Finland is not in the "others" groups?

Me failing over and over? It seems clear to everyone it is you who desperately try to prove Finland is a western European country.

It is just a name. GET over it. West Europe has poor countries like Portugal. really not worth fighting for. Geographically Finland is always RUSSIA's best neighbour

people hate the idea of east Europe because they mix it with the east bloc, which is a different concept.
Yes, true; people equal E Europe w/E bloc. I would point out, btw, that on the maps that have a Northern Europe category, "northern Europe" always stops at the E bloc border, i.e. Russia. It doesn't extend to include the Kola Peninsula and the area along Finland's border. I'm fine with Finland keeping it's place in the Western family. But what are we going to do with those pesky Baltic states? That is why a Central Europe designation is needed. Let Finland be "central" instead of east.

What does this mean? I don't know what this is supposed to mean, but it sounds ominous. I don't know anyone who considers Finland to be part of the "east", except you.

But anyway, this thread wasn't about geographical classifications, so this discussion is pointless.
Ariete, I'm afraid this map you posted weakens your case. If longitudinally you're aligned with Ukraine and Belarus, there's no hope. We should leave longitude out of it, haha.

This fight deserves its own thread. We're off-topic for this thread, unless we're arguing that Finland is a candidate for "most easternized in Western Europe", which I don't think is what you're trying to say.

It's not situated in Western Europe, it's 1,000 + miles from the Atlantic seaboard. Stop clutching at straws.

Austria is a hybrid of a Western and Central European country.

It doesn't. I have several times said that geographically and climatologically Finland is in Eastern Europe.

But for all the other reasons I stated, it is crystal clear that we are a part of the Catholic-Protestant / Roman-Germanic Western European cultural sphere, which Ukraine and Belarus definitely isn't. Just because owenc is 'sperging out on longitude and botticelly trolling or being ignorant doesn't mean a rat's ass.
