I've only visited Paris and Rome. I hope to visit London one day in the future.

Rome wasn't all that special IMO, but I liked Paris. The architecture is nice but it gets repetitive after a while like somebody said and the public transport is pretty bad. The food in Paris was nice, there were many nicely dressed people and lots of good boutiques to shop from. There are an awful lot of gypsies in both cities (Rome and Paris), especially near the touristy areas. Annoying.

Well I provided a link that says there are 400,000?!

I have been to both and enjoyed London more. Am I not allowed to have an opinion?

I went to see France play Scotland (which Scotland won by the way ) and I had a great time, but London was just a bit more fun to me.

Well like Minato ku said, when you're in London it's quite obvious that there aren't 400,000 French people living there. Even in South Kensington I didn't hear that many people speaking French.

Quoted from this governmental website:
Quote:
Au Royaume-Uni, l’accroissement du nombre d’inscrits au registre est de 2,2%. Le nombre d’inscrits passe ainsi de 123 306 au 31 décembre 2011 à 126049 un an plus tard.
Royaume-Uni = the UK

I'd much rather trust it than any newspaper, especially the Daily Fail!

Fair dos, you can trust who you want. Why did they just pluck 400,000 out the air then? Even if they have overestimated it by double it is still a lot.

If you believe more the extraordinary data of a consultate done with no methodology than the official census of your country, it is your choice.

According to British census, there were 129,804 people born in France living in England and Wales in 2011.
Note that French born data in British census includes some children of former British expats born in France that came back to the UK.

This is the top 5 Foreign born population by country in 2011 in London according British census.
India: 262,247
Poland: 158,300
Ireland: 129,807
Nigeria: 114,718
Pakistan: 112,457

Now if you believe that there are as many French people in London as people born in Indian and Poland combined, it is your choice but the simple common sense is enough to see that this estimation of 400,000 French people in London is pure fantasy.

I could argue for Rome, but I voted for Paris.

The french people that comes to live in London don't do it because they like London better than Paris, but simply for their job market and carrier advancement, improving English language skills. It is well seen to have an experience in an Anglo Country; they come to London because it is closer than NYC... That'as as simple.

But this is just not at all the subject here.

I don't think that Tourists want to go to Europe for its sport facilities, its caribean carnivals or its English-speaking theatral scene... They want to be immerged in a different ambiance and culture, discover something else that the "globish" culture, in a old urban layout and landscape...

That's why Paris and Rome are well above than London. London is probably better to work and live the global modern society, but that doesn't mean it is good as a "must-see" European attraction... London is considered by many almost not be European . Go to the US, ask the people what is the quintessential European city, it won't be London. London is usually seen by Americans as an "intermediary step" before entrering in the exoticness of "real" Europe.
As an American who also holds German citizenship, I agree with this.

I don't understand your point. The economy in the UK is somewhat better than that of France at the moment. How is this relevant?

The economy in Houston or Frankfurt is currently better than that of Barcelona or Rome. Are you then saying that Houston is a more "must see" city than Rome? LOL
