Oh boy...
I am a person who is into Italodisco, not all this stuff, but for what it's worth, here it goes;
No, I am not thrilled with Arkona - its "folk metal" is reminiscent of Celtic/Scottish music at times, and the "metal sound" is not all that great.
And may be I just don't like the singer - who knows.
Band # 2 - Nope again; I hear Russian folk songs kinda put into "metal arrangement," and in a song # 2 it gets even worse, because guess what the drums there remind me of -
Now the band # 3 ( The "Butterfly Temple") however...
There was something very original in their sound from the get-go, so I decided to explore it a bit further, and made it to this site.
And yes the band is VERY impressive, ( I wish I could find "Demiurgs of Extasy" ( judging by review.))
And from what I see, the person who likes this album very much, has hard time figuring out where to place this band (Folk? Black? Prog? Doom?)
I am not familiar with any of these styles, but the band is impressive - that's all I can say.

Now can I go back to my Italodisco please?
The fact that you now know about Metal- Archives means you're awesome in my book
Metal has so many different sub-genres that it's hard to know exactly how many there are, but I'll go over done of those you mentioned.
Folk: presence of sound associated with folk music.
Doom: very heavy and very slow
Black: tremolo picking, blast beats and screeching
Progressive: lots of tempo changes, complex songwriting
I'm also a big fan of Boney M. They were quite popular in the SU. I heard that they were barred from playing "Rasputin" in Moscow back in 1978.

Irish music! A strong influence on Russian folk-metal/folk-rock was rendered by band "Melnitsa" (Natalia O'Shea/Natalia Nikolaeva before the marriage).
