Still, I think paying rent the whole life is a waste, especially when people stay in one place anyway and have children. At least my wife and I can give the house to our children when we are gone. This is also one of the reasons that Germans have less assets on average than other Europeans.
That is the point. I don't know where I will be 1, let alone 3 or 5 years down the road. Most likely I will have moved house yet again. I feel like in jail when I live in the same city for more than 3 years or so.
Especially nowadays, with people moving to where the jobs are, switching jobs more frequently than in the past. Gee, I would not want a home of my own. I would have to sell it every couple of years, pay the moving company etc.

That is exactly what I said a about 50 posts ago. I have been keeping up and all this "mine is bigger than yours" is getting annoying.

Not as frequent and common as in the U.S. and Canada. These homes are everywhere in suburbs.

You seriously would think that I am going to list things why I dislike living in Europe when I haven't been there? Indeed I was born in Europe. I moved to the US 1999, but my parents came since the 80s.

No they are not, the largest home in American and Canadian suburbs will look somewhat like this.
