Indeed! You could walk up to Gianicolo but I recommend the bus to the top and a walk down through Trastevere. Oh, no problems drinking the water from the public drinking fountains located everywhere. These are still...after a 1000 years, transporting water from the surrounding mountain streams directly to the city. I have never had any problems with...try a little one day. If it's OK on your system, your good to go. Or, buy water at a Conad, Despar or Carrefour supermarket. You will pay .37 - .88 eur ... Basically <1 eur ...versus a couple of eur from a street vendor. Find the location of "supermarkets" near your hotel by going to Google maps and typing in "supermarkets Roma".

Anyway I just wanted to know if anyone had specific places they loved and recommended.
The advice of the bus is great but I just wanted more detailed other than take a bus, buy a book, etc...

Thanks again.
ATAC...the Roma Public Transport company operates sightseeing, doubledecker, buses that are very inexpensive and included in a the price of a Roma Pass. Apparently people love this service. I prefer walking and know Roma well, so, I don't have pesonal experience with the tours, but.........they look great! Oh, and, you can jump on and off them at your pace....

P.s. how are handling money? Are you buying euros before the trip? Charging expenses? I can't recall if you've said you've travelled o Europe before? Be sure to check with your cc company to see if they charge a foreign transaction fee.... Also, if you plan to,use a debit card at an ATM, check again for your banks fees <European banks do no chrage fees for using their ATMs but most US banks will>. Also, be sure you PIN doesn't start with a 0 (zero) as most European bank machine don't recognize PINs starting with zero!

As far as the tour buses we definitely plan on getting a hop on hop off bus so we can get out and explore if we like.

I've never been to Europe. I was planning on buying some Euros before the trip and taking by bank's Visa card as well as other ccs. I will definitely call my bank today and will find out the fees. I didn't think about that. I know I didn't get charged when I used my cc in Brazil but it may be different for Europe.
