Only partly true. As far as I'm concerned Muslims aren't a race and can be of any racial and ethnic background. Levantine Arabs are semites, though. That's why I don't understand their hatred towards the Jews and Jewish culture in general. It has to be all based on Israel's policies and history. Both speak a similar language (Hebrew-Arab), have similar traditions (e.g. to cut off parts of their baby boys "tickle-tackle" for religious reasons-->circumcision) and also have a shared history. The Ashkenazim are obviously different and are very "European" or "American" due to their diaspora but the Sephardic or indigenous Middle Eastern Jews are related to their Palestinian/Arab neighbours.

BTW, the said incident happened in 2010, it's all water under the bridge now...

Ah, those Persians They are a different kettle of fish, though. Very secular, modern and even anti-Muslim as an immigrant or expatriate community.
