We have all those channels except for Food Network, PBS and CBS (I've seen a lot of posters advertising CBS at train stations lately so I guess it's offered as PPV now). We also have Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, CNN, TLC, CNBC, Nick Junior, etc. And popular shows from other American channels are just broadcast on our regular channels.

Well that would be the same but I didn't realise it was so "english" there. I haven't been but if you really have that then I suppose i'm wrong but I can't imagine other european countries being like that.

Although that isn't the only american channels. We have more.

I see we don't have the Food Network but we do have 24 Kitchen, I suppose that's similar. I forgot we also have 13th Street, MGM, Travel Channel, Nat Geo Wild and several other lesser known American channels. You can find them all at the link I mentioned in this post (the Dutch TV guide).

You have visited but you don't live here.
When you visit a country you only see a very limited part of the country.

Same in France (except that we don't have Comedy Central or Animal Planet, anyway the programme of those channel are broadcasted in other channels), obviously channel like MTV, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Cartoon Network... have their own French speaking version.

UK is far to be the only country with many American channels, this is true all over Europe and all over the World.
UK may have more American channels than other European countries but it is just because it have the same language that USA, the cost of translation or/and adaptation is much lower or nonexisting.

Exactly. And if BBC America is proof of a special relationship between Britain and the US, then what about Al Jazeera America and Russia Today?
