Not sure what you actually mean by second tier, but comparing Salzburg to large cities like Hamburg or Turin does not make much sense.

I have only been to Sevilla. I liked it very much and infact it is really my favourite city. Amazing architecture and wonderful culture. I have been only to 9 countries and the 2 of my favourites are France and Spain. France because of Paris and Spain because of Sevilla and Granada.

Granada and Sevilla are stunning. I also liked Lisbon. I think Istanbul should be on the list too.

Sevilla is fabulous. Still, in Europe, you have like a million "second-tier" cities that are incredibly beautiful.

I have only been to Sevilla, Hamburg and Salzburg.

Sevilla is the most beautiful and 'remarkable' out of these choices in regard to the history, architecture and cultural sites. However, Hamburg is the largest and most economically important one and therefore has a very cosmopolitan and 'urban' vibe to it. Salzburg is a rather small/mid-sized city with 146.000 inhabitants, hence, not really comparable to cities in the 500.000-2.000.000 range. In addition, Austria's second city is either Innsbruck or Graz. Salzburg has a nice and classic old town and history, though. More authentic 'Austrian' than Vienna. In fact, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a proud 'Salzburger'

I'm looking forward to visit the other cities one day... I'm especially interested in Krakow and Edinburgh.
