Well I can't speak for everyone but I don't spend much time staring at flaccid penises to really care if its aesthetically more pleasing and erect they generally look the same.
True. A flaccid penis is only useful for urinating. I guess that's the only upside - no need to pull back your foreskin when going to the toilet.
It is non-existent among Europeans but common among some immigrant groups from the third world. The only European country in were there was a brief tradition of non-medical circumcision was United Kingdom under the Victorian era. Circumcision is not liked – at least not in Sweden were it was almost banned a few years ago but because of the massive immigration since the 70s (mostly third world immigration) the politician refused to ban it. Among the eight parties in parliament – the “Left Part” (Socialists) and Swedish Democrats (National-Conservative) wants to see a ban. What on in Norway, Finland and Denmark I do not know but I believe there is some opposition. A majority of the Swedes want to see it banned but again – the mainstream politicians refuse because they need the immigrant vote.
Based on what I know, I think that elective (non-medical) male circumcision is rarely practiced in Europe for non-Jews even in the European countries where it is legal.
It's funny that there are people in the Philippines who think it's the western, modern, and Christian thing when it's so much more common in the Muslim world when it is overall a very foreign practice that's basically the realm of muslim countries, jewish communities, the US, and the recently evangelized Asian countries.
i had two of my boys circumscribed in a FRENCH hospital because of the medical reasons a mohel could not perform this.
While in the hospital they had so much fun together sharing the whole experience, they came out of their deep sleep laughing, yes it stung a bit but kids recover in a few days, so it hurt them three times to be exact and for a few secs each time putting on a cream.
I am American and I am not in one of the religious groups that promotes circumcision. I personally do not care either way. Circumcision will never completely go away. Sure, you can let them decide at an older age - they will likely choose not to do it because of the pain. Makes sense to me. I would hate to have a son who had foreskin problems, though.
I don't think circumcised genitalia really looks that much better than uncircumcised. Male genitalia is not pretty to me so it hardly makes a difference whether a foreskin is on there or not. I would never reject a man for having a foreskin. That is extremely shallow to me.
