Have any of you Europeans ever been to the United States (if yes, where)? What was your first reaction and what did you notice being the main difference from your country and rest of Europe? What did you like the most and the least about the U.S.?

The first time I landed in the US , I was 14 1/2, it was Christmas 1969, NYC was under the snow, and it was awesome, completely magic for the Euro kid I was. I will never forget my first time in the US (Xmas vacations 1969), I was, at a young age, discovering something brand new, exotic, and back in France, my English marks in class skyrocketed!

... I loved everything : a younger, more vibrant society (back then, hippie time), town and country (Manhattan and the Catskills), the yellow cabs, the pretzels from food stoles in the street, strolligninto town (5th avenue, avenue of the Americas with the flags of all the countries of the continent), Central Park, the tuna sandwiches, the Carnation cherry powder drinks, the peanut butter, the 24 hour catering (ethnic food, ummy), the steam coming out of the pavement, the weird "fallout shelters" in the buildings (it still was Cold War, remember), the fire exit staircases, the brownstones, the subway, the buses, the museums, the partying (my mum had partying friends, all Americans)...I was devouring all these with all my sense, eyes, ears, mouth....awesome!

Maybe it's the Americans who should go to Sweden, for an exciting change of pace...?

Sweden is a small country... There are lots of countries I would like to see before Sweden.
I watched Stockholm on travel channel... Looks nice but somewhat boring (?) or not as exciting as London, Paris and Rome.

If you pay I will be happy too.
But I would avoid the princess.
