Strangest and most distant license plates you've seen in your area - SkyscraperCity
If you look through this thread of mostly European members you notice they seem to find a large number of American plated cars.

How many American plated cars have you seen? in the US i have seen a Camper with German plates over the summer but that was pretty rare.

Rarely, saw a Ohio plate a few weekends ago in a mall parking lot, was surprised to say the least. Among non-European locations, Saudi plates are probably the most common in high-end areas. Still pretty rare. Saw a Turkish plate today on the freeway, that's about as exotic as it gets on a daily basis. Otoh, Romanian and Bulgarian plates are everywhere even though they're not that far from Turkey.

Not American, but I have seen license plates from Iceland and the Faroe Islands in Europe (specifically, in Sweden and Denmark). So yes, appearently people actually ship their cars across the Atlantic, cause those were proper Icelandic and Faroese plates.

I've never seen any US plates in the UK or on the continent. But I'm sure they are here. I see plates from the continent in the UK, but that's it.

We used to see US plates all the time in the 80's when Greenham Common airbase was still open. They were everywhere in Newbury where I grew up.

Haven't seen one since then though.

Nowadays it's all Polish plates and other east european stuff. I see a few arabic plates on supercars in London from time to time.

I've never seen a US plate in the UK, though to be honest I don't even know if I would recognise one if I saw one! I see European plates on delivery lorries along the M20 corridor or the M25, with regards to cars I think I see more Polish or Dutch plates than anything else foreign, however the fact that the UK is an island may make foreign plates more of a rarity here?
