Hello Everyone,
I am Andrea, italian, and I am new on the forum.
I am a biomedical engineer and I am currently enrolled as a student in a master program at Bocconi School of Management in Milan.

I have to plan where to go, starting from June, for my internship abroad. I want to choose a good country because, after the internship, I am interested in living there.

Up to now, I might have some internship opportunities in these three countries..what is your opinion about them? Do you think there are better countries in Europe?

My opinion is that all three countries are great but, truth to be told, I am a little "disappointed" about what I have read on Denmark (a lot of complaints on the web due to high taxes on income and goods and about the healthcare system).
I have read only very good things about Switzerland and not many experiences from Luxembourg.

Tell me your opinion and your experiences.
Thank you very much,

Andrea

You might consider southern Germany, and also France. I've read very good things about the French healthcare system. And I'm thinking that an Italian might be happier living in France or southern Germany, where the people are warmer and friendlier.

Luxembourg is expensive but pay is normally better. Close to Germany, France, Belgium, Holland so easy to travel. I lived in Germany not to far from Luxemburg, have only been to Lux city once or twice, it seemed ok. Went to a concert there once. I used to go rock climbing in Berdorf by Echternach a lot. I can understand letzeburgisch, mostly it is similar to West Eifel dialect wheren I learned German with some French bits. I could live there. It is kind of quiet some say it´s boring others love it. High standard of living.

Gee, that's a tough one! I have been to two of the three. My choice would be Switzerland. I had only 100% positive experiences in country. Denmark was great, too! Sweden is close and also an option (?). Sweden was terrific!! All things considered (taxes, etc., etc.) would opt out Denmark.

I've also been to France and Italy. Both are great, but not as great as Switzerland!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I would prefer Switzerland too...I think I may like Denmark as well, but taxes (on income and on cars) are too much high.

For living, friends in Switzerland tell me it's difficult socially. It takes a long time to make friends. If you're the independent type who's happy pursuing solitary activities, you'll be fine. If you're the gregarious type who's used to having a group of friends, it might not be the place for you. If you make friends through your training program, you'll be off to a good start. And there's a sizeable expat community that's very approachable, I'm told.

personally, i would say switzerland. they have a very stable economy/currency that isn't too linked up with the EU and the euro. their healthcare is VERY good, along with their schools. the infrastructure is some of the best in the world, public transport famous for its efficiency. taxes are REALLY low, especially if you are a foreigner. since you are from Italy, you can move right into Ticino canton since their main language is Italian. also, 30% of switzerlands export depends on its pharmaceutical industry so you'd shouldn't have any problems finding jobs.

the only bad thing about switzerland is expensive living costs however wages in switzerland more than compensate. swiss people are some of the best paid in the world.

Switzerland has lower taxes. So you get to keep more of that salary after paying for living expenses.
