Clearly to kill for. How else do you want to try to twist this into Russia looking like it has a better economic future than the EU? Russia would need a 50% growth rate for a long time to catch the EU. It will never catch up because it is an illiberal corrupt failing state.

Talk about good timing. I was out in the field these last few days and while at a construction site I ran into some Ukainian guys who were weather proofing and siding a large condo complex. The 2 I had lunch with were from Rivna. I asked them what they thought about the Ukraines economy and they said it was actually so so and not great when it came to certain things like construction. The reason they came over here to work for their uncle 2 years ago. Opportunity in Ukraine is hard to come by.
I got the impressio0n that people in Ukraine are surviving but when it comes to making real money they need to go abroad. I've seen this quite a bit here in Seattle. Fishermen going to Alaska because there is no work in the fishing industry there. Laborers on construction sites. One of these guys was also wanted in Ukraine for skipping out to Russia when the war in the east started. He refused to fight. He fled the country to Moscow and stayed with family there before coming here. We had a good laugh about carrying all your luggage on your back through the Moscow Metro. That should be an Olympic event.
I haven't actually read any article that claimed that's it's everyone and that's why I corrected DKM. The total sits at 24 if I'm not mistaken. It's most definitely a significant number, but hardly representative of the whole world.
I'm not too keen on China. I admire the speed at which they developed, but the country is far too authoritarian for my liking. I would prefer developing some kind of relationship with Russia in the future as it's far less of opressive than China is.
If we go by potential future superpowers, I'm most fond of Brazil actually. It's the most multicultural one and is quite progressive on a number of social issues, though it's plagued by violence.
Here's something you can do. Educate yourself about China. There's a guy called Serpentza, he's from South Africa and not a westerner who has been living in China for 10 years. All is not what it seems. You should seek truth for yourself and not allow yourself to be spoon fed propaganda.
I disagree here. The EU may be dealing with its own demons, but the organization has achieved some amazing things over the years.
Even if it's not all roses like you keep saying, it remains leaps and bounds beyond where Russia at this point.
Spain is actually a lot better off as they used to be one of the poorest European countries until the 70's, but have picked up quite a bit following Franco's death.
There are obviously a number of problems with the EU, including the current controversy over the open border policy and not everyone is on board with all the decisions taking place, but a number of countries have benefitted from the EU, including some of the smaller markets like Poland and Croatia.
Open border policy is okay as long as you're not waging wars that create the refugees and asylum seekers. They seemed all on board with the decisions to wage wars. Even some government ministers in Belgium and France boasted of sending criminals to Syria and Libya.

Correct Grega. 2014 was when it started slowing with the imposition of sanctions. From what I understand measures have been taken to correct it but the pay off is not immediate. Just like Chinas silk road, the expenditures are tremendous today but the payoff is far in the future. Possibly decades away. We shall see.
There's no reason Russia should give anything in the face of bad behavior from it's neighbors. Stand for something or fall for anything.
