I think that Russians take note of this. Hence in their eyes their own oligarchy system and the power of US corporations that politicians basically serve, make less and less difference.

Quite sad to view Russia transformed into a banana republic, into a Venezuela....

But, all that Putin mental diarreah about the west...is it for real? I just think he's being populist to be popular among "drunks" as you say....but he's supported by a group that are not drunks that are loosing money...

What is he after? I don't think he cares about Ukraine....or elections, since elections must be rigged...

He reminds me that turd called Maduro, always inventing western conspirations to mask jis failure....

But Putin is a clever man, what is he after? A dictatorship?
Rabid anti-Westernism is to the modern Russia as an apple pie to America. That's a key tie that holds the regime together. The enemy at the gate unites the Fuhrer and his people. Unlike people in a modest banana Republic, Russians have a bunch of complexes and manias they've inherited from their long Imperial past.

I believe it's a primitive psychology. Egocentric disorders usually develop to compensate for the the sense of fear and insignificance. Russians tend to place Russia in the center of the cosmic order of things (no exaggeration there), and it's a sure sign of a major psychological disorder. Most of the Americans don't suspect they wage a war on Russia, or they don't know that Russia exists, but many if not most Russians believe they fight a war with big bad USA already. Why? Americans don't think about cosmic purposes much, they don't need cheap psychological tricks to live their lives, and that what makes Americans inferior in the averaged Russian opinion, they, Americans, don't think about the "meanings" and eternal purposes as much as the Russians do (a claim is not mine).

Exceptionalism and messianic manias are the two things people and nations use to overcome their smallness and fear. Essentially, Russians don't want to live in the modern world of uncertainty and anxiety as equals. Russians must have a sense of purpose to function in the meaningless universe, and the only way to achieve that purpose is to exert Russian will on the less significant ones, like Ukraine, for example. Being anti-western gives the Russians a purpose & meaning, to deliver the world from the evil liberal rot, moral decadence and Anglo Saxon domination, to bring the majesty of the Russian world to the light for everybody to see (in essence Russians parrot German nazis to a letter on this one). Putin is a money hungry criminal but he has a huge esoteric side to him, a Russian mystic of a sort, who interacts with all sorts of the shady philosophers of the Russian fascism and who has many nuclear weapons (unlike Adolf).

Spoiler

Knock, knock ... Another blow ...
Again blow - and here
Boris Butkeev (Krasnodar)
Conducts uppercut.

Here he pulled me into a corner,
So I just left ...
Here uppercut - I on the floor
And it is not good!

And I thought Butkeev, my jaw crumbling:
And to live well, and life is good!

With the score at seven I'm lying -
Weeping compatriot.
I get up, dive, leaving -
And I go goggles.

It is not true, as if by the end of
I force the bank -
To beat the man in the face
Since childhood, I can not.

But the thought Butkeev, crushing my ribs:
And to live well, and life is good!

In the stands whistling, howling in the stands:
"Tally-ho, he is a coward!"
Butkeev climbs in close combat -
And I'm on the ropes zhmus.

But he slipped - he Siberian,
Assertive they -
And I said to him: "Freak!
Tired after all - a rest! "

But he did not hear - he thought, breathing:
With live well and life is good

And he still has - a healthy, damn! -
I see - to be trouble.
After all, boxing is not a fight - it is a sport
Brave, etc.

Here he hit - one, two, three -
And ... he lost his strength -
The referee raised his hand to me,
I did not beat her.

He lay and thought that life is good,
Who is good, and to whom - or shisha!

And especially for our Finnish friends.
