While Europeans visit this cash cow for the The Walt Disney Company (39.78% of shares) and Saudi Prince Alwaleed (10% of shares), American workers are laid off.

They're too expensive: way to high wages, way too generous paid sick leave, way too much paid time off, compared to their peers in India, Albania, China, The Phillipines, ...

It has some kind of psychopatic logic in it.

A long time ago, an American croony capitalist and robber barron came to Europe to steal our stories.

He took them with him, transformed them into silky smooth, bubble gum alike fairy tales. Made movies, became very rich. Lived long. Had children. Was happy.

In a moment of extreme generosity, his family decided, to bring the stories back to where they belong. At a small price.

Disney gave both us and lots of American workers an apple. Would you bite in it, knowing what you know?

I like the park itself, have visited it a couple of times already and the attractions are fun. I agree the prices for toys and things like cups are ridiculous and what costs a few cents in China to produced is sold for way to much in the park.

Overall, you see production moving to China yet things which cost a few cents to produce are sold for big money in Europe or the US. Middle class in those areas are impoverishing, corporations are getting richer however living standard in China is (very slowly) improving. It is not just a Disney thing.

I agree the Americans stole our stories and act as if they own them. But they tend to do that a lot with other things and other countries too because they do not really seem to be good at anything themselves.

And release politically correct versions. ABC is airing a version with a black Rapunzel. What a slap in the face to our culture!

??? I don't understand your point? Disneyland Paris is only partly owned you indicate that yourself 39% owned by Disney? What does that have to do with the Disney's US layoffs? If you come to the US you'd see that the merchandise sold in Disneyland or Walt Disney World is also made in China, Thailand, or India. We (Americans that is) understand that the manufacturing thing is an issue, and have understood that for a while, people are trying to correct this with a new wave of American domestic manufacturing, is that the point you're making?

Anyway, I'm from Orange County in California and grew up in and around Disneyland, my visit to Disneyland Paris was awesome but it was almost surreal, the similarities and the differences were so subtle and so stark at times that it could have been off-putting. In the end though I liked it, and had a really great time, the Space Mountain in Paris is way cooler than ours, but the Indiana Jones ride although fun, I still think I like ours better.
