I've lived in English-speaking towns and cities where people who did not belong to those heritages cursed in Sicilian, Spanish and Yiddish. It allows you to say bad things in situations where you would be censored if you said the same thing in English, but saying it in a foreign language keeps it at a distance and sometimes makes it seem almost humorous.

News, when French swear they do so in English.. Spanish, Italian or German as well. Motha ****a, joder, sheisse, va ******* ! It's always more soft to insult someone in a foreign language, not as insulting as in its own.

Well, that is hardly a surprise when considering that Swedish has the lamest curse-words out there. kronan123 had a good attempt, but no. When I speak Swedish I always curse in Finnish. Vittu perkele saatanan huoranpenikka sounds better than fittans jävla horunge.

Another example: the male reproductive organ in Swedish is kuk, while in Finnish it's KYRPÄ. Which sounds nastier?

I´m always laughing when I hear people use the f-word in Sweden.
It sounds incredibly stupid.
